Just like everyone else in the world who uses computers, I also occasionally run into challenges with my own computer.
Yesterday was one of those days when my computer started giving me fits. It started when I was answering an email from one of our Beta Test Team, and everything locked up.
Aaarrrggghhh! Frustration.
After about 40 minutes of trying different things, I finally narrowed down the culprit to the external keyboard I use. It seems the thing suddenly stopped working – but not all the time.
Fortunately, that external keyboard was about a 2-year-old replacement for another, older one I still had, so I swapped them out, and am now back up and running again, but this delay cost me a lot of time I could have been working on LIDA.
But WAIT! There’s MORE!
I have back in my office a brand new, unopened, bodacious computer I bought on Black Friday and received around December 19 or so. I needed the tax deduction in 2019, but when it arrived, I was so wrapped up in LIDA and the holidays, I just didn’t want to take the 2 to 3 days it takes to migrate my online life to a whole new computer. With yesterday’s frustrations, I’m thinking it may be time to start that migration.
However, there are currently a number of urgent LIDA issues that must take front-burner priority – the main one being migrating to a new installation package generator.
So stay tuned for more in the computer-migration and LIDA update saga. If things move a little slower than usual for the next few weeks, now you know why.
